Addiction Recovery

Our focus with addiction recovery is opiate addiction. We provide a multi-disciplinary, integrative approach to addiction that is individualized to the needs and financial constraints of our patients.

Addiction Education and Counseling

The backbone of our recovery program is education. Our goal is to provide the education and skill sets necessary to allow our patients to recover from their addiction. We begin by teaching people about the nature of addiction, including how and why a person may have been at risk for addiction in the first place. By providing individual counseling with our licensed addiction counselor, we guide our patients toward recovery with the tools and insights necessary to avoid relapse and regain control of their lives.Group counseling and cognitive behavior training are also offered as additional approaches to furthering recovery.

Medication Assisted Treatment

Medication management may include the use of buprenorphine (Suboxone, Zubsolv and Bunavail) as a means of transitioning someone off opiates. Buprenorphine is a safe and effective means of reducing the symptoms of opioid withdrawal and curbing the cravings that lead to relapse. It is considered to be the best choice in medication assisted treatment of opioid addiction for most people. Our goal is to discontinue the use of sustained buprenorphine management as soon as the person is ready although we recognize that for some people this may not be possible in their near future if at all.

An alternative to using buprenorphine is the use of Vivitrol, an injectable, extended release version of naltrexone, an opioid blocking agent. Naltrexone injections are given monthly and serve to block the action of opioids that may be taken if relapse occurs.

 Complementary and Alternative Medicine

We also offer Synaptamine, a neuroadaptagen designed to raise brain dopamine levels to facilitate the withdrawal process as a stand-alone treatment when appropriate or in combination with buprenorphine or naltrexone. Synaptamine supports optimal brain health, enhanced energy, reduced stress as well as helping nutritional maintenance of overall mood health and a sense of well-being.
In addition to Synaptamine, other nutriceuticals and natural supplements are encouraged to support dopamine balance as well as address issues of oxidative stress that accompany addiction and withdrawal.

Genetic Testing

Current research indicates addiction to be one of many manifestations of Reward Deficiency Syndrome (RDS), a condition of insuffcient dopamine levels in parts of the brain. With information obtained by genetic testing, we can safely and effectively tailor individualized treatment plans directed at restoring dopamine levels to facilitate recovery through the use of nutriceuticals.
