Terpenes
Terpenes and Insomnia
Terpenes are believed to contribute to many of the therapeutic benefits attributed to marijuana, especially for the management of insomnia. Certain terpenes offer their own independent contributions for sedation and enhancing sleep. Although research remains inadequate to fully understand the clinical benefits of terpenes for insomnia at this time, this section explores some of the individual terpenes and various terpene profiles of some of the marijuana cultivars (strains) believed to help with insomnia.

Terpenes and Insomnia
The effects of terpenes on sleep remains incompletely understood but there may be benefits for insomnia, particularly with respect to symptom reduction permitting better sleep, as opposed to a mere hypnotic effect. Certainly, terpenoids with pain-relieving, anti-anxiety or sedative effects may supplement such benefits, particularly caryophyllene, linalool and myrcene.
